How is a Weblecture created?

The Weblecture creation process has three stages:

1. Record the Lecture...

The lecture/seminar is presented to an audience in the normal way.
The audio content of the lecture is digitally recorded onto either a storage medium (eg a Minidisk) or a PC.
If the presentation uses Microsoft PowerPoint, the laptop/PC records your mouse clicks.
Any slides or acetates used during the presentation are scanned onto a computer and stored using the appropriate file format.

2. Audio and Graphics combined to create weblecture...

The audio recording, any converted slide/acetate images and/or any PowerPoint files are loaded onto the editing computer.
All the relevant files are loaded into the eLect application.
The presentation's images are synchronised with the audio recording using eLect's editing tools.
Once editing is complete, eLect outputs the audio recording, the images and the synchronisation information as a Weblecture.

3. Weblecture available for distribution...

The Weblecture can be distributed in a wide variety of ways. It can be stored on a CD or made available for download from the internet or a university/company intranet. The Weblectures can even be streamed from a suitably equipped webserver.
The Weblecture is viewed using a standard web-browser (Internet Explorerer recommended). RealPlayer 10 or Windows Media Player 9 will also be required, depending on the format of the Weblecture.
